Why should we exfoliate?

Peels are used for deeper skin cleansing, i.e. the removal of dead cells of the stratum corneum. They essentially speed up the process of keratinization.

Keratinisation is a specific function of the skin and consists of the normal maturation of its cells. As the keratinocytes of the basal layer rise to the surface of the skin, they undergo changes, lose their nucleus and become dead cells on the surface of the epidermis, which fall off. Thus, millions of dead cells are removed and our skin is renewed. A keratinization cycle lasts about 28 days. Exfoliating products are designed to remove this layer of dead keratinocytes.
